Bhagavad Gita Ch 18 B – Moksha by Renunciation
Chapter 18 deals with the four castes or varnas. Each caste was given a vocation that suited their temperament, the purpose being to attain Perfection.
Brahmanas were predominantly sattvika . They were leaders and role models. The Ksatriyas – ruler caste – were predominantly rajasika. Vaishyas - businessmen - had more tamas with less rajas and sattva. The Sudras, labour class, were predominantly tamasika.
Krsna then leaves us to do as we wish. The Bhagavad Gita is not a doctrine of commandments. It is advice based on a scientific exposition. Reflect on these principles and live them. Then you will find Liberation while living in the world. You will command the resources of the world but not be dependent on them.
