You advised to leave hatred. A loved one has deeply hurt me by humiliating me in order to defend his wrongdoing? – Vedanta Vision

You advised to leave hatred. A loved one has deeply hurt me by humiliating me in order to defend his wrongdoing?

People behave according to their nature. If there is a person who is hateful, he will act in a hateful manner. So, expecting such a person not to humiliate you or not to do bad things to you means you have not assessed him properly. But you can be free from getting affected by that humiliation when you have the right understanding. You don’t even feel humiliated because when a person who is full of hatred behaves in a demeaning manner, it is himself or herself that they are humiliating, not you. You just understand that here is an unrefined person. This is what Buddha did when somebody yelled at him and said the most absurd things to him. He didn’t get upset. He only said, “He is free to say whatever he wants. But it is my choice to accept it or return it.
