Do we forgive even if forgiveness is not asked for? – Vedanta Vision

Do we forgive even if forgiveness is not asked for?

Yes. It is not about forgiving the other person; it is about your state of mind. When you forgive, you are not condoning the act, you are only removing the negative feelings that you harbour towards the person. By doing this, your mind becomes calm and you are able to take whatever action is required. So, forgiveness is not passivity. You may take assertive action against a person, but with a forgiving attitude. This is Krishna’s advice in the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna. Fight them, kill them if necessary, but not with hatred, but with forgiveness and love.
