How do I identify my svadharma? Since childhood I have liked traveling and being out in nature so can traveling be my svadharma?

To begin with, svadharma is the field of activity you are engaged in, a vocation or profession. So travel cannot be the svadharma. Maybe travel and tourism might be your svadharma. This is chosen by looking very carefully at what inspired or excited you from childhood onwards. What did you visualise yourself as when you were a child? Not passing fancies, but deep-rooted life interests. What were you always attracted to? One day when you are relaxed, preferably early in the morning, write down all the things you wanted to pursue since childhood. Set this aside and repeat the exercise after a week or so without referring to the earlier notes. Do this 4 or 5 times. Then compare all the sheets. You will find one or two things keep recurring. This is your shortlist. Choose the strongest one as your svadharma. Then figure out how you will change from what you are already doing. Initially, do it as a hobby, in your spare time. If it is truly your svadharma, it will take over your life.

In your svadharma, fix a higher ideal, one beyond your selfish, self-centred interests. The higher the goal, the greater will be your excitement, enthusiasm and creative input. Work dedicatedly towards this goal. Then you will be free from desire and hatred, likes and dislikes.
