a. You need to embark on a systematic study of the Gita, every day. I would recommend you get either the video or audio Pen Drive that has elaborate introductions followed by a detailed verse by verse explanation of the Bhagavad Gita. You can order it online on our website www.vedantavision.org. At a fixed time, each day, preferably first thing in the morning, watch or listen to it. Ideally for an hour but you can begin with half an hour. Write down the important points that the portion is trying to communicate. Each introduction or verse teaches a few life lessons. Extract them and reflect over them. During the day try and experiment with one idea and try and live it. Watch your experiences. Note them down. If you have any questions, please feel free to mail me at jayarow@vedantavision.com. If you find a small group of like-minded people you can watch it once a week at a time convenient to you. This helps keep your enthusiasm going. However, this is not essential and does not replace the daily study you have to do by yourself. The daily study gives valuable life lessons as well as helps strengthen your intellect.
b. Think before you speak or embark on any activity. Use your existing intellect before you do anything. Take your emotions or preferences into consideration but if the intellect is against it put the action on hold. Like buying a gadget/home or planning a vacation etc.
c. During the day, while acting, try and instil an attitude of giving in your daily routine. Make an effort to look at things from the other person’s perspective. Do your work wholeheartedly.
d. Exercise every day. Go for a walk, gym, yoga, anything. Ideally, half an hour cardio and half an hour yoga are best. But follow whatever schedule works for you.
e. Listen to uplifting music for at least half an hour during the day, whatever appeals to you. The best is classical or devotional music. The best time is perhaps while driving to work and back.
f. If performing a puja every day or lighting a diya at the home altar inspires you please continue that. If it doesn’t it is not essential.
